Navarathiri

Hi all,

Navarathiri-one of my favorite festivals. It stands for nine nights which are dedicated to three Goddess’: Durga (Goddess of bravery), Lakshmi (Goddess of wealth), and Saraswathi (Goddess of knowledge) each for three days respectively.
Golu (rows of Clay dolls of god are arranged in steps) is the most important thing for Navarathiri in Tamilnadu.
This year, there is a new arrival at my home. My cousin 2 years old is adding fun to the celebration. I and my sister are at holidays. My father is busy at setting up of fancy lights,
We used to do some poojas during morning. I am trying out some new cuisines too. My mother prepares her as usual ‘sundal’.
Children wear fancy dresses and invite everyone for golu at their homes. People who come to golu sing devotional songs and are given thaamboolam. One good thing I noticed is people switched off their TV serials and exchanged greetings among each other. There are some Telugu and Gujarathi families nearby each celebrating this festival in their own way.
In this fast moving world, when people have no time to stand and stare, this type of festivals creates real fun, we meet old friends, relatives, also add new friends, all along with the blessings of the deity. This brings joy and peace. :)

Will meet u all soon :)

hi,

navrathri, to me has always been a colourful festival where all ladies and girls look really like lordess mahalashmi..... going to each others place.... exchanging gifts and thamboolam all have certain significance.... the festive mood starts with navrathri... it is not only for sundal but also for meeting of people and be friendly with them
sharing thoughts is more during that time... get to know each other....

i perform lakshmi pooja on all days and esp during navrathri whatever we do, we get double effect for that.... reciting of sundara kandam (the tabular coloumn given in the front page of the book) which is very very effective for those who are yet to get married or to get child, or job or anything/.... immediate effect..

pl try that....
